Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
God the Almighty always says the truth.
