The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
