The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
