The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
