The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
