Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
