The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 that hide, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
