The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
