Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
