The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
