The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
