The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
