He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
