Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder. 1 And when the stars have fallen and scattered; 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 and when the graves are laid open: 4 Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back. 5 O man, what seduced you from your munificent Lord 6 Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias; 7 In whatever shape He will He could surely have fashioned you. 8 Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! 9 Yet over you there are watchers, 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 They know all that you do. 12 The virtuous ones will live in bliss 13 And most surely the wicked are in burning fire, 14 They will burn in it on the Day of Judgement, 15 And will not be removed from it. 16 They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is! 17 How then can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 18 It is the day when no soul will have power to do the least for a soul, and God's alone will be done. 19
