The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a great day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a repository of distinctly written record. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is a written book, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
