The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A book inscribed, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
