The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
