The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
