The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
