The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
