The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
