The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
