The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
