The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
