The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
