The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
