The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
