The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
