The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
