The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars, 1 by the Promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire), 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel, 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 And they themselves are witnesses to what they were doing to the Muslims! 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 Behold, it is He who creates [man] in the first instance, and He [it is who] will bring him forth anew. 13 and He is the Ever Forgiving, the Most Loving 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 Doer of what He will. 16 Has it come to you the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh, and of [the tribe of] Thamud? 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 But God surrounds them from all sides. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved! 22
