The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
