The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs; 1 by the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 with fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they were sitting near it 6 And they themselves are witnesses to what they were doing to the Muslims! 7 whom they hate for no other reason than that they believe in God, the Almighty, the One to whom all praise is due, 8 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is the Witness of all things. 9 Verily, as for those who persecute believing men and believing women, and thereafter do not repent, hell's suffering awaits them: yea, suffering through fire awaits them! 10 [But,] verily, they who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall [in the life to come] have gardens through which running waters flow - that triumph most great! 11 Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe. 12 Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Has there reached you the story of the soldiers - 17 Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? 18 But those who disbelieve are engaged in denial. 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
