The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
