The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
