Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
