The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is no merriment. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
