The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
