The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
