Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
