The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
