The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
