The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
