The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
