The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
