The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
