The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, 1 who created all things and gave them due proportions, 2 and who determines the nature [of all that exists,] and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment,] 3 And Who brings forth herbage, 4 Then makes it dried up, dust-colored. 5 We shall make thee recite, to forget not 6 except what Allah should wish. He knows all that is manifest and all that is hidden. 7 We shall make all your tasks easy. 8 So remind them if reminder is profitable: 9 in mind will keep it he who stands in awe [of God,] 10 but the most wretched shall flout it, 11 he who [in the life to come] shall have to endure the great fire 12 Wherein he will neither die (to be in rest) nor live (a good living). 13 To happiness [in the life to come] will indeed attain he who attains to purity [in this world,] 14 And who mentioned the name of his Lord, then offered prayer. 15 But nay, [O men,] you prefer the life of this world, 16 Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting. 17 This, indeed, was in the ancient Scrolls, 18 the scriptures of Abraham and Moses. 19
