Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
