The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 And by oath of those who herd with a stern warning. 2 and by the reciters of the Reminder: 3 Indeed, your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,- 6 (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, 7 [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side, 8 rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement, 9 but if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge,] he is [henceforth] pursued by a piercing flame. 10 Ask them thou: are they stronger in structure or those others whom We have created? Verily We! We have created them of a sticky clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 and, when reminded, do not remember 13 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, 14 And say: "This is only magic. 15 When we have become dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then verily be raised? 16 Will our forefathers also be brought to life again?" 17 You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 They will say, "Woe to us!" (They will be told), "This is the day of receiving recompense". 20 (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21
