In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
