Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
