Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
